Rumor: Upcoming Nexus 5 and Nexus 7.7 Specs Leaked

Previously we heard news that LG has halted Nexus 4 production and gets ready for development of next gen Nexus device. Now new rumor spreads out from Korean media, leaks specs and price of this unconfirmed device, along with the successor of Nexus 7. It's said the next gen Nexus phone and tablet would be called Nexus 5 and Nexus 7.7 respectively. Both devices are believed to be announced at Google I/O (May 15th - 17th). The Nexus phone manufacturer, LG, would unveil its latest flagship --- Optimus G2 at MWC 2013 next month.

For specifications, the Nexus 5 comes with a 5-inch 1080p display with 440 ppi. Powered by a quad-core Tegra 4 processor, the phone has 2 GB of RAM, a 13 MP rear camera and a 3 MP front-facing one. It also runs newest Android 5.0 (Key Lime Pie) OS.

For price issues, Google may continue the price strategy of Nexus 4. That is: $299 for 8 GB version and $349 for 16 GB version. If all of the specs and price rumors are true,we can imagine the Nexus 5 could be more popular than its predecessor.

Rumor also mentions a new tablet, the Nexus 7.7 (I wonder if it's made by Asus or LG). This machine is equipped with a 7.7-inch display in 1920 * 1200 pixels resolution and 294 ppi. It has the same processor, RAM, ROM and OS as the Nexus 5. Both cameras are 720p. As to the price, the 8 GB version of Nexus 7.7 is priced at $299.

Nexus 4, Google's currently co-branded phone,is always out of stock on Google Play in many countries. Customers who pre-orderd the phone have to wait a couple of weeks for shipping. Therefore, both Google and LG are criticized for their capacity. It's also reported that LG has only produced less than 400, 000 units of Nexus 4 in past 3 months. I wonder why Google continues to choose LG as the manufacturer of Nexus devices. Have you guys seen Sony's Xperia Z? What an impressive model at CES. Google should have chosen Sony other than LG, I think.

Rumor: iPad 5 & iPad Mini 2 to Roll Out in March?

It seems the product line of apple's iPad basically upgrades twice in one year. Based on the latest rumor, the new generation full-sized iPad and iPad mini would be announced in March 2013. Brian White,an analyst of Topeka Capital Markets, claimed that he got the inside news from partners who participated in CES 2013. If true, the new products' launching is only 5 months later than the previous gen.

White said the brand new iPad 5 could be lighter and thinner than iPad 4 (iPad with Retina display). It'll be powered by a new A6X processor, continue to use Lightning connector and keep the design of 3rd gen iPad (new iPad). As to the 2nd gen iPad mini, there would't be large modifications, but some components would be upgraded, for instance a faster processor.

The rumor above didn't mention any news about displays. However, according to a report last month, apple is supposed to provide a higher definition display for the next gen iPad mini. So we have no further information about the display issues.

The apple company has been absent from the show since 1992, White didn't mention the source of the insider news detailedly neither. Last week he also claimed that apple is planning to launch new iPhones with different sizes and more case colors in May or June, other than the current black or white iPhone 5.

Rumors on apple iPad 5 and iPad mini 2: Thinner, Lighter and Faster?

When will the iPad 5 coming?
We have heard too much rumors about apple and their gadgets, sounds like these insiders never need holidays. Currently a Japanese blog Macotakara leaked a rumor, claims that the next generation iPad (iPad 5?) is coming in March 2013 --- only 5 months after iPad 4's launching.

Perhaps it's a little early to talk about details of this unconfirmed tablet. What we hear from rumors is that the iPad 5 would be thinner and lighter and current model. To say it specifically, it's 4 mm shorter, 17 mm narrower and 2 mm thinner than the iPad 4.

It's also said the iPad 5 will be available in black/slate and white/silver which is similar to the iPad mini. It hasn't been a long time since iPad 4 and iPad mini's launching, so we don't think the new tablet would be available in a short period of time.

The iPad 4 was officially announced on September 13, along with iPad mini. Compared with the low key full-sized one, the mini version of iPad is more welcome: a new sized tablet with a faster A6X processor, an advanced 720P Face Time camera, a new Lightning connector and dual-band Wi-Fi.
Rumored iPad mini 2
Here we also have an old (nearly one-week old) rumor for you. News from apple's Taiwanese supply chain, it's said the second generation iPad mini is about for mass production. This new tablet, temporary called iPad mini 2, will upgrade its display resolution to 2048 * 1536 pixels and use the same A6X processor as iPad 4.

Insider claims that apple gets ready for all components of the second gen iPad mini, plans to  start a small range testing.

The iPad mini 2 is said to maintain a 7.9'' display but upgrades resolution to 2048 * 1536 pixels with 326 ppi. Powered by a dual-core A6X chip, the iPad mini 2's speed can be twice as fast as iPad 3 (the new iPad).

In order to protect market share, it sounds like apple is going to launch new products more and more frequently. The most important thing I care about is apple must bring out more innovative products to satisfy customers' requirements. Anyway, let's stay tuned and dig up the truth.

Samsung's unbreakable and flexible screen
According to the report from Reuters, the Samsung Galaxy S4 will have a 5-inch flexible and "innovative screen". Its resolution can reach 1920 * 1080 pixels, which can definitely be called Full HD screen. The PPI (Pixel Per Inch) of screen is 441, more higher than Galaxy S3's 306 and iPhone 5's 326. Moreover, Galaxy S4 is powered by a quad-core processor and has a 13 MP rear camera.

A few days after the announcement of iPhone 5, there's a rumor about apple's chief competitor, Samsung. Besides prediction of the announcement date, the report also provides some detailed specifications (not confirmed yet):
  • 5.0'' OLED display and resolution in 1920*1080 pixels, larger than Galaxy S3's 4.8''. Does Samsung treat this device as a tablet?
  • 3.15 MP front-facing camera. Details about the rear-facing camera are currently unknown. But it should be equal or even higher than Galaxy S3's 8.0 MP, right?
  • Runs Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) OS.
  • Equipped with a Quad-Core Exynos processor, which is developed independently by Samsung.
  • Compatible with 4G LTE technology.
  • Keeps the popular rounded-corner rectangular design, in order to prevent copyright fight with apple.
It's still early to say truth or false on this rumor. We'll continually concern about the latest news.
