Microsoft PowerPoint is an widely-used document formats for business since launched in 1990. We play PowerPoint on mobile devices or computers, we use presentations to show our ideas, we upload PowerPoint to YouTube and share with friends.

In some situations, to prevent others from altering your PowerPoint content, you may have to convert it to some more secure formats, for instance, PDF. Then how in the world to convert PPT to PDF? Here we have 3 FREE methods for your reference.

1. Save as PDF directly
If you have MS Office 2007 or 2010 installed on your Windows OS computer, it would be easy to convert PPT to PDF format directly.
PowerPoint 2010
Launch PowerPoint 2010 and import the slideshow you want to convert. Click File tab on the upper tool bar and select "Save As" option. Then a dialog box pops up and let you choose the output format and address. Choose "PDF(*.pdf)" option from "Save as type" drop-down menu.

2. Zamzar online conversion
If your computer runs older MS Office version (e.g. 2003) or even hasn't installed Office (lol), here's another solution for you. Zamzar is a website that provides service of transforming songs, videos, images and documents into different formats. It can help us transform PowerPoint, too.

Here's how Zamzar works:

Step 1 Select local PowerPoint files or URL to convert.
Step 2 Select output format. Here we choose pdf.
Step 3 Enter email address to receive converted files.
Step 4 Click to confirm conversion. It takes a couple of minute to upload my file.
Step 5 When the uploading and conversion is finished, check your mail box and receive an e-mail from Zamzar. Click on the link to download a copy of your converted file.

Limitations of Zamzar:
1) The converted file will be stored for only 24 hours from the time you receive your email Zamzar.
2) Emails may take longer to arrive for bigger files, or when Zamzar is very busy.

3. PPT to PDF Converter
When it's inconvenient to connect to network, or you think it not a good idea to leak your e-mail address to a website, you can have the third choice --- PPT to PDF converter. It's a FREE, smart and integrated PDF creation program that converts Word, Excel & PowerPoint to PDF file in one mouse click.

Here's how the converter works:
Step 1 Download, install and launch Moyea PPT to PDF Converter. Click Add button to input files to the program.

Step 2 Click Settings button for customize settings. A new interface pops up immediately. It consisted of five tabs: General, Compress, Colors, Fonts, and Misc.

In the Compatibility field, select the right version of Adobe Acrobat that you are using.
In the Auto-Rotate field, select how you want the output page(s) to be orientated.
In the Resolution drop-down menu, select a proper resolution for the output PDF file.
Compress: It is checked by default to make a smaller size for the converted PDF file. Uncheck this option if unnecessary.
Colors: Select from the drop-down menu which color model device you want to use for the output PDF file.
Fonts: The Embed all Fonts checkbox is ticked by default to display all the text of the converted PDF document(s).
Misc: Select whether you want to rename or override the converted PDF file if it has already existed, whether to show Repair dialogue while failed to invoke MS Office, and whether to open the PDF file(s) after conversion automatically.

Step 3 If everything's OK, just click "Convert" button. The program will start to convert PowerPoint files to PDF format. When it's done, a window pops up and shows you the results as below.

How to View PowerPoint on Nokia Lumia 920?

View PowerPoint on Nokia Lumia 920
"The world’s most innovative smartphone", that's how Nokia describes its new flagship --- Lumia 920. After abandoned Symbian and Meego, Nokia's newest smartphone with Windows Phone 8 brings us surprises: a 4.5 ''  display with 1280 * 768 pixels resolution, a 8.7 MP PureView rear camera and new wireless charging technology. Though sales of the Lumia 920 have been well behind the iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S3, this handset still has been sold out in quite a lot of countries since available in November 2012.

So what are the reasons for getting this phone? Besides entertainment, another basic and usual requirement is to view PowerPoint on Nokia Lumia 920. It would be ironic if a Windows Phone can't play Office files (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Thanks to Microsoft, users can watch PowerPoint on Lumia 920 with its build-in mobile Office application.

The mobile version of Office has several features:
  • Basic editing, add comments on a Word file.
  • Edit, add formulas and move among pages on Excel spreadsheet.
  • Download PowerPoint documents and move or hide slides (without much editing capability).
From the above introduction we know some advantages of Office on Lumia 920. However, the mobile Office app can't do everything the same as the computer version. Moreover, it's weird and uncomfortable for people to tap on the screen to edit a PowerPoint slide on a keyboard-free device. Therefore, a more suitable way to enjoy playing PPT on Lumia 920 is to convert PowerPoint to video formats. The animated effects and the content would not be affected during conversion. Now let's have a look at the conversion process.

Step 1: Download, install and launch PPT to Lumia 920 video converter, a powerful tool that helps convert PowerPoint to Nokia Lumia 920 videos.

Step 2: On the user interface of converter, click "Add" button to import PowerPoint files (supports batch importing).

Step 3: Click the Profile drop-down menu and select a proper video format. For example, I choose "HD MPEG4 Video(*.mp4) as the output format.

Step 4: To make sure the converted PowerPoint can be played perfectly on Lumia 920, we need to click Settings button and enter Profile panel. Set the video size as “1280  * 768” and audio codec as “AAC“.

Step 5: Click the big black Start button to convert PPT files to MP4 videos for Lumia 920. When it's finished, transfer the videos to the phone and play them for free!

$699 for 64GB

Dimensions & Display
The new Surface RT tablet is larger than iPad 3 in dimensions but both of them have similar weight. The surface RT came up with a 10.6'' display in 1,366 x 768 pixels resolution. The iPad 3 has smaller screen, a 9.7'' one, but provides better visual quality for its higher 2,048 x 1,536 pixels resolution.

Operation System

The Surface RT is equipped with an OS called "Windows RT", a version of the Windows 8 OS for ARM devices such as tablets. What does RT mean? We don't know yet. It may probably just like "NT" or "XP" in the past. As to the iPad 3, it uses the newest OS from apple, the IOS 6. It's a little difficult to compare two different operation systems...

Storage & Expansion Slot

Both tablets provide 32GB and 64 GB versions. Besides, the iPad 3 has an entry level 16GB version with lower price. The Surface RT also supports expansion slot  while iPad 3 has none. So is it more reasonable to get a larger storage one if you want to buy an iPad 3?

Cameras

The iPad 3 has 2 cameras. The rear one has 5.0 MP and the front one is a 2.0MP VGA. For the Surface RT, detailed information about cameras are not unveiled. What we know is that both of the cameras (rear and front) supports 720p shooting.

Apps

There are more than 70, 0000 apps available on the official apple app store, according to the reports on September 12, 2012. For the Surface RT, it has installed Microsoft Office Home and Student 2013, convenient to view and edit Word/Excel/PowerPoint files for users. As to other software, well, the official Windows store is still under building.
Touch Cover Keyboard
Price
The pricing strategy of Microsoft is interesting. If I have $499, should I get a 32GB Surface RT or a 16GB iPad 3? They are both attractive. For the 32GB and 64GB version, the prices of both are the same: $599 and $699. But if you're planning to get a 32 or 64GB Surface RT, the bundle will include a type cover with pressure-sensitive keys(priced at $130 if purchase separately).
